JURY DUTY SCAM Criminals have come up with new way to target
unsuspecting people for identity theft.
Crooks are calling people, pretending to be jury coordinators. The caller claims to be a jury coordinator,
asking why you didn’t show up for jury duty.
When you protest that that you never received a summons for jury
duty, the crook asks you for your
Social Security number and date of birth so he or she can verify the
information and cancel the arrest warrant. Of course when the unsuspecting
individual does so, they soon find themselves on the receiving end of massive
bills rung up by the scammer. This
scam has been reported so far in 11 states, including Oklahoma , Illinois ,
and Colorado. The FBI and the federal court system in the US have issued
nation wide alerts on their web sites, warning consumers about the
fraud. You can check it out here:

University Recognizes Pagan
Holidays Marshall University in West Virginia has just
added Pagan holidays to their list of excusable holidays. Steve Hensley, dean of student affairs at
Marshall, states: “Based on the
research I've done, Paganism is practiced by a group of people large enough
for it to be considered a major religion.”
Apparently he is now collaborating with the department of religious
studies to develop a list of specific religious holidays that the university
will excuse upon request. |
