Book of Shadows excerpt: Spring Mysteries, Ft.
Flagler, WA, Eostre 1992 The ritual procession is about to begin.
A group of the priests who will appear in tomorrow’s ritual drama in which we
will search the “Other-world” for the daughter of the Earth Goddess are
carrying the sacred paraphernalia in a decorated litter. Each of us has been
given a daffodil: These represent our hopes, dreams and desires. The procession begins to wend its way down
the precipitous cliff-side road to the sea. Some of us are chanting: “The
ocean is the beginning of the earth. The ocean is the beginning of the earth.
All life comes from the sea. All life comes from the sea.” As a counter-point
to this, others chant: “We all come from the Goddess, and to her we shall
return. Like a drop of rain, flowing to the ocean.” When we reach the shoreline, we give our
flowers to the priestesses. They discard their robes and carry arm-loads of
our wishes into the waves. Kerr Cuhulain |

“We now celebrate the awakening of the
Earth and the return of beauty and of fruitfulness. Life has quickened forest, meadow and
field. Let us celebrate the return of
the gentle times with spell and chant and song. Let the far kingdoms be hailed!” Ed Fitch, Spring Rite, Magical Rites From
